Falkland Islands

The Falkland Islands were originally setup by Whaler's. Who would rest there on their way to or from the icy Antarctic waters.

The Islands are approximately 600 miles from mainland Argentina in the South Atlantic Ocean.

There was no TV or Radio until the BFBS (British Forces Broadcasting Service) setup a small TV & Radio service for the Forces Personnel based on the island. This too has been a benefit for the local population, although the BFBS were talking about charging the locals for it.
