The Argentineans knew their people were illiterate when they were laying the mines, so they gave them a long piece of string with a small key ring placed where they wanted small mines laying (Anti-Personnel) and a large key ring  where they wanted large mines laying (Anti-Tank).

The farmers hammered a stake into the ground tied the string to it, paid out the string and placed the mines. Unfortunately in the Falklands the wind blows at an average of 17Kts and in some places instead of the mines being in nice straight lines they were all over the place or in massive "Dog-legs".
